(12/1/2009) STATEMENT BY MAYOR JOHN DESTEFANO, JR. IN RESPONSE TO APPOINTMENT TO COMMITTEE ON GOVERNOR’S PROPOSED RESCISSIONS

NEW HAVEN- I am pleased to serve on this committee and provide a voice to Connecticut municipalities in this difficult economic climate. Significant rescissions can force cities and towns to draw into a deficit, layoff employees and consider mid-year tax increases, these are consequences that Connecticut families cannot endure in this economy. I expect that this committee will create an environment where we can engage in a healthy dialogue on this matter."
